The 2010 Volkswagen CC sedan is even more likeable after its first year.
It's difficult to evaluate a car if the styling is blindingly handsome, as many experts are agreeing since the Volkswagen CC was introduced last year. This four-door sedan, the name of which is short for "Comfort Coupe,” is a four-passenger version of the same-size five-seat Volkswagen Passat sedan and wagon. But the CC's roof has been lowered about two inches compared to the Passat, and the overall effect is to re-proportion the already trim-looking Passat into a car that draws a lot of double-takes.

Four Shining Stars
Volkswagen earns four Top Safety Pick awards.
There are about 280 different nameplates of passenger vehicles for sale in the U.S. in 2010. Of all of those, just 27 were awarded a Top Safety Pick designation by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which has been testing new passenger vehicles since 1995. Four of the 27 winners are Volkswagen's Golf, Jetta, Passat and Tiguan, an amazing share of the accolades for one manufacturer. The IIHS began naming Top Safety Picks in 2006.
